Fade an element in or out

Fade changes opacity over time. 0% is invisible and 100% is fully visible — so a fade-in goes from 0 to 100.

Fade in

  1. Select the element, choose Animate, then Fade under Effects.
  2. Set From 0% and To 100%.
  3. Set Delay 0.5 s, Duration 1 s, Loop 1 and leave Reverse off.
  4. Rewind and play. The element fades into view and stays visible.
Fade-in example: wait 0.5 seconds, fade over 1 second, play once.

Fade out

Use From 100% and To 0%, with a delay long enough for viewers to read the message first. Make sure the fade can finish before the element or page ends.

Keeps repeating? Loop 0 means Forever, so the fade plays over and over. Set Loop to 1 for a one-off entrance or exit.
