Page duration, the timeline and preview

Updated 17 September 2026

Timing has three parts: how long the page lasts, when each element is on screen, and how each animation behaves within that window.

Timing controlWhat it controls
Page durationThe length of this page in the design's sequence.
Element's timeline barThe time range in which that element is present on the page.
Animation settingsHow the element changes over time: delay, duration or speed, and repeat behaviour.
Playlist RuntimeA separate setting in the playlist that controls how long the whole design plays. Don't confuse it with an animation's duration.

Set the page length

  1. Turn on Edit as video.
  2. Click an empty area of the page so nothing is selected.
  3. In the top editing bar, click the time control (for example 5 sec). In Page Duration, type a value or use the slider.
With the page selected, the time control opens Page Duration.

Make an element appear later

  1. Select Timeline. The page thumbnail sits above the individual element tracks.
  2. Use Zoom timeline + / − to make the scale easier to work with (this is separate from canvas zoom).
  3. Drag the left end of an element's bar to change when it starts, the right end to change when it ends, or drag the whole bar to shift it in time.
  4. Click along the time ruler to move the playhead (the blue line) and check what the canvas shows at that moment. Keep Edit as video on while checking.
One text track starts at about 2 seconds while the page lasts 10 seconds.

A track's menu also offers Split at playhead, Duplicate and Remove. Page controls include Duplicate page and Add page for extra scenes.

Edit as video is a preview mode. On: the canvas shows the frame at the playhead and hides timed elements outside their range. Off: everything is visible while you lay things out. A static-looking canvas doesn't mean an animation is missing.

Use Rewind to start → Play to review the sequence from the beginning and Pause to stop. Preview every time you change element timing, page length or animation settings.
